Week 3 - The Survivor Breast Cancer Challenge
They say your friends are a reflection of who you are. In my case my friends are the best reflection of who I am.
For week 3 of The Survivor Challenge I'd like to thank a group of friends for teaching me something new about myself as I battled cancer. Each of you were with me in every moment I was terrified and alone. I could hear your words of encouragement when my inner thoughts began to shake. I can never repay you for what you gave to me as I embarked on my battle to defeat cancer. The memories I have with you pulled me through some of the darkest moments of my life.
I am forever grateful for who you are and what you do. For you are designers, decorators, writers, event coordinators, health and wellness advocates, artists counselors but above all incredible human beings. I bow in gratitude for our relationship. Thank You Martha, Daffie, Narsey, Victorious, Queen B, Tweenks, Jon Jon, Kiethy, Jakie, Stevie, Jon San, D-Dub, Lady Lege and the Chaney family for stamping my life. All of you are wonderful and it's truly a blessing to call you friends.
I love you and I want you to know that each of inspire me to give others the Hope you gave to me.
Week 2 - The Survivor Breast Cancer Challenge
Week 1 - The Survivor Breast Cancer Challenge
I'd like to take a moment to honor the caregivers and supporters that surrounded us when we need it most. Each week, I'll highlight a friend or family member that supported me and made my days just a little bit brighter and still do to this very day. I challenge you to do the same. Let's spread the love and appreciate our everyday angels.
With that being said, I'd like to start off with my sister Lisa who happens to be a Registered Nurse. Prior to me having Breast Cancer she was my partner in crime, during my experience with the cancer, Lisa was by my side during the roller coaster of emotion that was filled with hope and despair. I honestly don't know what I would have done without her. She cried with me, she gave me strength, emotional support and hope. A great example is when she coached and encouraged me at my weakest. She was the one that unwrapped my bandages after my double mastectomy and told me what to expect at first glance because I couldn't dare look at myself out of fear. She took time off of work for all of my appointments but one and was there for all of my surgeries while continuing to be a mother, daughter, sister, friend, and employee. My sister is honestly the all time, all American wonder woman.
Lis, you and a "survivor sister" were the inspiration for this and that's why I'm forever grateful for you. You're selflessness and generosity that you give day in and day out is unmeasured. It's hasn't gone unnoticed. Thank you for being by my side and for most of all best friend and my hero.
